This week, senior officials in President Donald Trump’s administration identified what they consider to be the greatest national security threat.
In a report, top Trump administration officials told Senate Intelligence Committee members that fentanyl and the foreign drug gangs that import the deadly street drug into the United States pose one of the greatest threats to the country’s national security.
During opening remarks, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard stated that during the 12-month period ending in October 2024, “cartels were largely responsible for the deaths of more than 54,000 U.S. citizens from synthetic opioids.”
