15 Minutes of Terror: Zookeeper Fatally Attacked by Lions at Safari Park

In a shocking incident at Safari World, Bangkok, a zookeeper lost his life after being brutally mauled by a group of lions.

Recorded video shows the man stepping out of his vehicle inside the open lion enclosure, only to be ambushed by three or four lions. The attack was so violent that witnesses described seeing bones exposed during the ordeal.

Visitors trapped inside their cars could do nothing but honk horns and shout, trying to frighten the lions away. Those watching from just about 30 feet away were helpless as the lions relentlessly attacked the worker.

Dr. Tavatchai Kanchanarin, who was present at the park during the attack, described the chilling moments. “As the zookeeper exited the car, a lion approached quietly from behind, seized him, and dragged him to the ground. Several other lions joined in, biting him repeatedly. Many onlookers witnessed the event but were unsure how to intervene; they resorted to honking and calling for help,” he said.

Some witnesses initially believed the situation was under control, assuming the zookeeper was familiar with the animals and routine procedures. However, the brutal assault continued until armed zoo staff finally arrived and managed to drive the lions away. Sadly, by then, the zookeeper had already succumbed to his injuries. The attack lasted roughly 15 minutes before emergency responders took the victim to the hospital, where he was declared dead.

Safari World in Bangkok has yet to release an official statement regarding the incident, leaving many in the public and among witnesses in shock, searching for answers.
