Trump’s Popularity Rises Amid Tariff Hysteria: Survey

President Donald Trump is experiencing an increase in popularity after implementing extensive new tariffs, which have caused significant disruption in global markets.

A recent poll conducted by DailyMail.com and J.L. Partners, which surveyed over 1,000 registered voters from March 31 to April 3, indicates that Trump continues to enjoy significant popularity throughout the United States.

The results reveal an increase in his approval rating to 53 percent, marking a 4-point rise from the previous week when it was recorded at 49 percent, as reported by DailyMail.com. This upward trend in Trump’s approval rating is unexpected, particularly in light of the criticism directed at the White House following the extensive tariff order enacted on Wednesday.

Notably, among voters aged 18 to 29, his approval has surged by 13 points since March 7, and he has also experienced a six-point increase in favorability among both Democrats and independents, according to the findings of the survey.

Notably, Trump’s backing among Black voters surged by 17 points within the last week. Regarding his proposed universal 10 percent tariff on all imported goods, the poll indicated that a greater number of Americans favor the policy compared to those who oppose it.

The survey revealed that 36 percent of participants support Trump’s suggested minimum tariff of 10 percent, while only 28 percent are against it. The remaining 36 percent expressed uncertainty. Voters also slightly favored the concept of increasing tariffs on all products from foreign nations, with 39 percent in support and 37 percent opposed, while another 24 percent were undecided.

Furthermore, support for extensive tariffs aimed at China and the European Union has risen since the previous month. Voters also demonstrated significant support for tariffs targeting specific sectors, such as aircraft, plastics, precious metals, iron, and steel.

The future of the tariffs remains uncertain.

On Friday afternoon, Trump utilized Truth Social to reveal that negotiations with Vietnam are underway, aimed at eliminating tariffs entirely—indicating his willingness to engage in agreements despite extensive measures.

“I just had a highly productive conversation with To Lam, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, who expressed Vietnam’s desire to reduce their tariffs to zero if an agreement can be reached with the United States,” Trump stated. “I conveyed my gratitude on behalf of our nation and expressed my anticipation for a forthcoming meeting.”

In a related development, Argentine President Javier Milei announced during an event in Florida on Friday that his administration is in discussions with Trump’s government to establish a zero-tariff arrangement for approximately 50 export products, with the intention of forming a more comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in the near future.

Milei emphasized advancements in dismantling trade barriers, noting that five of the eight initial concerns have been addressed, with further actions still in progress. The discussions aim to enhance the export of essential goods—accounting for 80% of Argentina’s exports to the United States—while ensuring stable relations with Mercosur.

The President of Argentina reaffirmed his goal to establish the nation as the ‘most liberated economy globally’ and highlighted his government’s economic achievements, which include a reported growth of 6% and the elevation of 20% of the populace above the poverty line since December 2023.

The Argentine President emphasized that despite the numerous objectives and measures, the entirety of the political landscape, media, labor unions, and numerous business leaders supported by the former regime consistently claimed that functioning was unfeasible. He asserted that our reform agenda persists, as our aim is to establish the most liberated nation globally.
